He wrote numerous works, especially biographies, but also wrote other non-fiction books. Some of his works include Marshall Turenne, The Life of a Conspirator: Being a Biography of Sir Everard Digby by One of His Descendants, Policy and Paint: or, Some Incidents in the Lives of Dudley Carleton and Peter Paul Rubens, The Curious Case of Lady Purbeck: A Scandal of the XVIIth Century.
